After the relatively limited flora and fauna of the West Indies, Venezuela was an abundant feast of wildlife. We took a two-week trip to the Andes and a four-day tour to the area known as Los Llanos (the plains) that lie south and east of the Andes. We traveled by van, river boat, on foot, and horseback. Check out the Venezuelan Flora, Venezuelan Fauna and Venezuelan Birds pages. Along the seashore we continue to find new shells, and hundreds of hermit crabs! |

| One of hundreds of magnificent butterflies we've seen in Venezuela. Unfortunately, we haven't got a field guide, so it remains the "no name" butterfly. Any help? |
